FAQ’s

Who is BFLF for?

Designed to appeal to both adults and children it is specifically for anyone with young children aged 8 and under. Older siblings/children are very welcome – but please remember that parents remain responsible for their children at all times (children must not roam about by themselves) and that some of the areas are more suitable for younger children i.e. the baby chillout area and the tents. So, if you have a 9/10/11/older year old who loves dancing bring ’em along. They’ll also be able to make very good crafts from the materials available! Admittance with children only and maximum of 3 children per adult.

Maximum of 4 adults per child.  All tickets must be bought together and all of party to arrive at same time.  Any group where the adults outnumber the children must be pre-approved by BFLF management via info@bigfishlittlefishevents.com before buying tickets.

Adults remain responsible for their children at all times.

Is it a baby disco?

No. It’s a micro-festival/rave for all the family created by people drawn from the club and festival world who now have children and want to entertain them – and like-minded people – by sharing a love of great music, dancing and having a good time. Music is chosen specifically to appeal to grown ups but the children love dancing along to their happy parents and drum’n’bass in particular goes down a storm with everyone. We don’t play chart or child centred music.

Do I have to buy a ticket for my baby?

Non-walking infants are FREE – but if buying tickets in advance please do “buy” a ticket for your baby as they will count against the capacity of the venue.

Where can I park my buggy/change/feed my baby?

There is a free buggy park at all the venues and baby change area in/near the toilets. There is a baby only chill out area with seating to enable you to feed babies in a calm environment away from the main party area.  Drinks and food will also be available at the venue (though no specific baby purees so please bring what you may need). Often free healthy snacks and smoothies are given out when you leave (please check individual parties for details).

Is my [x] month old baby too young/will I need to bring ear defenders?

BFLF has had a lot of very small babies attend.  The youngest I’ve met so far was 3 weeks old.  Music is played at lower levels than at clubs and is entirely safe.  Some people do bring ear defenders for babies but it isn’t necessary.  BFLF also has a baby chillout space to give the very little ones a break from the intensity of the dance floor and have a play in the ball pool, on the mats, in a tunnel.  On the dance floor people often wear their baby in a sling.

How many people will be there?

Events are around 4-800 people and are busy.  The audience is what makes the parties so special – it is a rave!  Most of our venues have different areas so the BFLFers can roam around and away from the dance floor for a break/change of scene.  Please email info@bigfishlittlefishevents.co.uk if you would like more information about individual events.

How dark is it/are there flashing lights?

We use club lighting rigs with colour changing and moving lights but no strobes. Due to the club lighting used please allow a few minutes for your eyes to adjust to the environment upon entering and please ensure your children abide by the “no running” rule.

Will my [x]month old be alright to play in the craft area?

All craft materials are non toxic and the activities are designed for very young children – so there’s a playdoh table and the crafts normally involve a lot of sticking, as well as the giant mural to colour in.  The free transfer tattoos available are only put on children with parents’s permission and can be removed with baby oil – NOT water alone.

What if I buy a ticket but can no longer attend?

We are unable to refund tickets but our parties are very popular and sell out in advance.  If you Tweet @BFLFEvents or post on our Facebook page (FB/bigfishlittlefishevents) that you have a spare ticket you may be able to find someone to buy it from you.

Can I take photos?

There is a general disclaimer that anyone entering the event gives permission for photographs or video of them or their children to be used for the purposes of BFLF publicity.  If I am photographing a specific group I always check that they are ok to have a photo taken as it’s only polite.  Almost everyone takes lots of photos at the events as they are so colourful and fun.

Is there seating/disabled access?

The events are standing with limited seating and unfortunately not all our venues are fully disabled access.  If you have mobility issues please email info@bigfishlittlefishevents.co.uk if you would like more information.

BFLF follow the Family Arts Standards.

If you have any other questions or suggestions please email info@bigfishlittlefishevents.com. We are actively seeking feedback about the parties so we can make them a really brilliant experience for everyone.
